UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA 

COLLOQUIUM ON INNOVATIVE WORLD LANGUAGE PEDAGOGIES 

APRIL 29-30, 2022

 

The Colloquium on Innovative World Language Pedagogies will take place on the East Bank of the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities campus on Friday, April 29, and virtually on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Colloquium proceedings include a keynote address delivered by Kate Paesani, Director of CARLA at the University of Minnesota; moderated panel sessions that address the conference strands of language pedagogy or language beyond the classroom; and a mixer event on Friday evening. 

Papers may focus on the following areas within the thematic conference strands: 

  • Technology integration in the world language classroom;
  • Teaching gendered language;
  • Flipping the world language classroom;
  • Preparation for study or living abroad; 
  • Social justice pedagogy in the world language classroom;
  • Language teacher education;
  • Innovations in curriculum design; 
  • Innovations in community outreach.  

 

Any and all language educators, language technologists, education specialists, and students interested in language pedagogy are invited to attend the colloquium. You do not need to be a University of Minnesota employee or student to attend. Attendance of any of the colloquium events is free, but registration is expected.

Colloquium Format

This is a blended event. All colloquium proceedings on Friday (keynote address, paper presentations, mixer event) will be in person; all paper presentations on Saturday will be delivered on Zoom.  

Location

The in-person component of the colloquium will be held on the East Bank of the University of Minnesota - the Twin Cities. Friday afternoon's paper presentations will take place at the University of Minnesota Language Center.  

Parking near the Language Center includes the Church Street Garage and the 4th Street Ramp, as well as Parking Lot 37

Cost of Attendance

Attendance of the colloquium proceedings is free for all educators and students. You do not have to be a University of Minnesota employee or student to attend the colloquium! 

However, registration for the colloquium is expected and can be completed on this webpage. Colloquium attendees will receive the Zoom meeting link for Saturday's proceedings after registering.
